Show Me The Ropes ("Smitter", "we", "us") is a peer-to-peer community for learning new hobbies. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what control you have over it.

What we collect

Account: your phone number (used to sign in via SMS code), name, date of birth, and — optionally — gender, a short bio, and a profile photo.
Activity: the classes you list or book, session times and meeting-place descriptions you enter, credits earned and spent, reviews you write and receive, and photos you add to a class.
Safety: reports and blocks you submit.

We do not collect your precise device location. Class locations are text and coordinates entered by the teacher who lists the class.

How we use it

To run the service: matching learners with teachers, managing bookings, moving credits, and showing profiles and reviews to other members.
To keep the community safe: reviewing reports, enforcing blocks, and removing content or accounts that break the rules.
To send you SMS sign-in codes. We don't use your phone number for marketing.

We do not sell your personal information, and we don't show ads.

What other members see

Your public profile shows your name, photo, bio, member-since date, the hobbies you teach, and reviews you've received. It never shows your phone number, date of birth, or gender.

Service providers

Supabase — database, authentication, and file storage.
Twilio — delivers SMS verification codes.
Vercel — hosts the app and API.
Expo (EAS) — app builds and over-the-air updates.

Each processes data only to provide these services for us.

Retention & deletion

We keep your data while your account is active. You can delete your account at any time in the app (Profile → Delete account). Deletion is immediate and permanent: your profile, classes, bookings, reviews, photos, and credit history are removed. Reports you filed may be retained in anonymized form for safety.

Age

Show Me The Ropes is for adults. You must be 18 or older to use it, and we don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If we learn an account belongs to a minor, we delete it.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data. Most of these you can exercise directly in the app; for anything else, email us and we'll help.

Changes

If we materially change this policy, we'll update this page and note it in the app.
